As the fifth day of the manhunt continues, six of the ten inmates who made a daring escape from a New Orleans jail remain on the run, authorities report. The escape took place in the early hours of May 16 when the inmates pulled off an audacious plan involving a broken cell door and a hole in the wall. While four have been recaptured, the hunt for the remaining fugitives presses on.

At around 1 a.m. on May 16, the inmates managed to disable a faulty cell door and tear out a toilet and sink unit, using the space behind it to escape through a hole they had created in the wall. Sheriff Susan Hutson of Orleans Parish confirmed the details of the escape, noting that the perpetrators likely had assistance from someone within the prison system and possibly even from members of the public once they broke free.
By the end of that day, three of the escapees had been captured, and on May 19, 21-year-old Gary Price was arrested in New Orleans. Price, who had been serving time for charges including murder, domestic abuse, and aggravated assault, now faces additional charges related to the jailbreak.
Governor Jeff Landry was adamant in his statement, vowing that authorities would not relent until the remaining criminals were apprehended. “We will not stop until we rid our streets of these criminals,” Landry declared.

The six escapees still at large are Corey Boyd, Leo Tate, Jermaine Donald, Derrick Groves, Lenton Vanburen, and Antoine Massey. Four other escapees – Gary Price, Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, and Dkenan Dennis – have already been taken back into custody. The public and law enforcement agencies are working together to bring the remaining fugitives to justice, with the authorities urging anyone with information to come forward as the search enters its fifth day.
