The WNBA season kicks off on May 16. That may seem like just another date to you, but for me, it’s kind of mind-blowing. Here’s the thing: I haven’t cared about sports for years. I’ve completely distanced myself from the NFL and MLB, and the NBA has been off my radar since I was a kid. College sports? Not even a chance. As I got older, it felt pointless to let the activities of billion-dollar athletes dictate my mood.
Sports just faded into the background of my life. But here I am, oddly aware of when the WNBA season starts, and on top of that, I have family members buzzing with excitement about the league’s return.
Living in Phoenix for several years did introduce me to the Phoenix Mercury and the legendary Diana Taurasi. But it wasn’t until Caitlin Clark started making waves on the national stage that I found myself truly tuning into the WNBA. The rise of Clark, along with a growing list of rising stars, made 2024 a breakthrough year for the league. Now, I’m genuinely curious about what this upcoming season has in store. Can the WNBA ride the momentum from last year and keep the buzz alive?
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, there’s a big question hanging in the air: will this be the year the league makes history and changes the game forever?
That’s where we want to hear from you. Are you hyped for the 2025 season? Do you think the WNBA is here to stay, or will it fade out? Or maybe, you just don’t care? That would be a little strange, though, given that you’re reading this post.
